We are pleased to announce that after months of negotiation with a private seller, Nutritionix has completed the acquisition of for an undisclosed sum.

With this acquisition, we are also officially announcing our plan to open our international Nutrition API to developers worldwide in Q4 of 2012.

With a growing database of over 60,000 different verified food items from 5,000 different food brands, Nutritionix currently offers a public directory of searchable nutrition information for consumers.

In 2009, Nutritionix founders Matt Silverman and Daniel Zadoff noticed that app developers lack the resources to contact thousands of food brands to keep the nutrition information in their diet tracking apps up-to-date.  To ensure the accuracy of information in our database, Nutritionix establishes a direct relationship with restaurants and food manufacturers.

Because over 33% of calories are consumed outside of the home, it is crucial for app developers to have access the constantly evolving nutrition data that restaurants release.

As of today, hundreds of restaurants and food manufacturers are able to seamlessly update their product information in the Nutritionix database, and this information will soon be instantly pushed out to millions of consumers every day via the Nutritionix developer network.

Developers can apply today for the API waiting list.

Nutritionix, a nutrition technology company established in 2009, provides software solutions for restaurants and food manufacturers to help make their nutrition information more accessible to consumers.   Nutritionix also hosts the most accurate database of restaurant nutrition information, comprising of nutrition information for over 60,000 different restaurant and consumer packaged foods.
